Big Mission Church of Mobile is stepping boldly into the Eco-Media Storytelling ecosystem through a meaningful partnership with the Los Angeles Academy of Media & Technology (LAAMT)—one of the first organizations of its kind dedicated to blending media, technology, education, and environmental stewardship.

This is more than a collaboration. It is a shared calling: to tell stories that heal communities, protect creation, and raise up the next generation of voices who will shape a cleaner, more hopeful world.

Spark the Cheetah: The Face of Hopeful Storytelling

At the center of LAAMT’s Eco-Media vision stands Spark the Cheetah—the beloved brand ambassador and mascot who embodies curiosity, courage, and care for the planet.

Spark is not just a character. Spark represents a learning journey that begins with simple wonder (ages 5–8 observing nature and drawing stories) and grows into full Eco-Media Storyteller certification in high school. Along the way, young people learn to use cameras, edit footage, interview community heroes, document environmental challenges, and create work that celebrates sustainable fashion, women’s sports, local history, public health, and conservation.

Through the SPARK book series and hands-on pathways, children and teens discover that their stories matter. They learn that a single powerful image or short film can shift hearts, protect a marsh, or inspire a cleaner neighborhood.

For Big Mission Church, Spark represents something deeper still: the childlike faith Jesus spoke of, combined with the responsibility to steward the world God has given us. Out of this partnership, something new is taking shape: an Eco-Media Film Festival planned for 2027 right here in Mobile, Alabama.

Still in development, the festival will celebrate films and digital stories that advance the values of Eco-Media—environmental documentaries, sustainable fashion narratives, youth-led community journalism, cultural storytelling, and works that highlight hope, resilience, and practical solutions. It will create a stage for emerging Eco-Media Storytellers from the Gulf Coast and beyond, while drawing national attention to Mobile as a place where faith, creativity, and environmental care meet.

Imagine outdoor screenings near the water, youth workshops led by Spark’s spirit, conversations between filmmakers and church members, and stories that remind us we are all connected—to one another and to the land and water that sustain us. The 2027 festival is more than an event. It is a declaration that Mobile has a unique voice in the global conversation about how we live on this planet.
